      Hi Evaluation Committee,
I’m looking forward to our call tomorrow. It is at 9:00 CT. The call-in info is 218-936-7979, code: 559977. Later today Pete and Chinwe will send some documents that will include initial findings and recommendations. The proposed agenda is as follows.
–start with a review of  Findings
      –proceed to Recommendations.
—feedback on what’s working, what’s not making sense, what’s missing

Also, below are some notes from Rick regarding the survey results slides (with one comment from me in there as well:
      From Rick

Slide #9, WG attendance:   is the EE WG doing something that the other WG’s could be doing?  What is it about EE that has increased attendance?  Drill down on this question.  May also ask this of the coal WG.

Slide #13 Value proposition:  a key feature that distinguishes a network from other types of organizations is that members contribute information & resources; yet only 17% of respondents said they do that.  How can we create/incentivize more sharing/contributions?

GF: Actually, this just says that only 17% ranked it as the 1st or 2nd highest thing they participate in RE-AMP to do. That’s not totally shocking, since as much as anyone might want to share their own knowledge, they will most likely get more value from receiving info and funding, which are the highest rated. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 17% that ranked giving info as highest were primarily staff.

Slide #14 Satisfaction Index:  I like this idea, but I’m not sure we got this right.   If we are going to use this as a metric for how we’re doing, I’d like to see us think this through more carefully.

As a separate idea that is not covered, can we articulate what our highest aspirations are for the Network, and create an index to measure those?  These would include participation in things like WG’s and voting; contributing information or resources others could profit from; facilitating new relationship formation; facilitating strategic information that leads to either amplifying successes or avoiding repeating failed approaches; increasing collaboration and strategic alignment among foundations; others?

Slide #15 strategic insights.  I’d like to know examples of these, and by inference, how we can create these more often.

Slide #18, new connections.  How can we accelerate this process?

Slide #20 WG value propositions:  how can we up strategies for joint action?

Slide #24 SC’s role:  what do we do about this?

Slide #25 Caucus Integration:  what do we do about this?

Slide #30, What was important to victories:  Information/Insight consistently ranks over 50%, so I wouldn’t discount it.

Slide #32 & # 33:  I wonder if we asked, if we had the right officials in office, if the strategies would be enough for the long-term goal?  So is this a reflection of who is in power, implying if so, that we should put much more emphasis on that, or is it a reflection of the shortcomings of our thinking about what is needed?

Slide #34 Aspiration goal vs. short term goal:  I don’t know why we can’t have both a clear 2050 goal, and clear shorter term benchmarks?  It seems to me there is a huge value in being clear about what is required and where we are steering towards in the long journey, even as we tighten down the interim benchmarks or destinations.

What can we do about the findings in slide 37 on the shared resource usefulness?

For slide #40, Alignment, how can we boost alignment between funders & advocates; and between funders?

Slide #41, Better Investments:  do advocates have suggestions about how RE-AMP can further help funders make better decisions?
