Meet Callie Krueger, RE-AMP Intern

Meet Callie Krueger, RE-AMP Intern

Callie is going to be working on researching solar and electric vehicles policy so that we get a better understanding of the ways that we can ensure these technologies are accessible and that there is ethical sourcing of materials. If you have information or experiences with either, please reach out to her at callie.krueger@yale.edu.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I grew up in Northern Wisconsin, but currently live in Portage, Wisconsin. I just finished my second year at Yale University. It’s been life changing! I wanted to experience something different than the Midwest, so that’s why I chose Yale. I am now on the women’s rugby team, and have gotten to travel internationally! Initially, I thought I would study environmental science, but when I started taking classes in that field, I realized I knew so much already so I took some political science and economics courses which led me on a path to my current major which is Global Affairs. One day I’d like to work for a green energy consulting firm or work with developing countries to work on their growth via green energy.

You are working as an intern for the RE-AMP Network this summer. What drew you to working with us?

Yale has a network called the Summer Bulldogs program. It’s aimed at first generation and low income students to help them find internships. This network is composed of different organizations looking for interns with specific tasks listed as well as what the work environment is like. This program is what led me to match with RE-AMP, as I read up on the Network’s purpose and felt it truly aligned with my interests and goals.

Tell us about the work that you’ll be doing.

I’ll be primarily working on literature review, research, and reading on solar and electric vehicle policy. Once I’ve gotten a lay of the land, I’ll distill my research to recommend how RE-AMPers might move forward in each of these areas. This is to ensure that strategies RE-AMP supports have ethical sourcing of materials and are accessible by anyone. I’m excited to put my skills to work!

How can RE-AMPers help?

As with any policy, we know that there can be unintended consequences especially when considering supply chains and cost. I’d love your opinions, thoughts, reflections, or experience with tensions you’re aware of within solar and electric vehicle policies.

Anything else that members should know about you?

I’m a sponge and I’m open for a chat, advice, knowledge sharing, or just getting to know others working on solar or electric vehicles in RE-AMP. I’m also happy to talk with anyone interested in rugby too!
