RENEW Wisconsin prepared a compendium of active antiwind web sites and social media sites in four Midwest states (Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin).   Michael Vickerman combed the Internet in search of Iowa-specific antiwind sites, but did not turn up anything.   If you know of a web site in any of the five states mentioned above that doesn’t appear on this list, let me know and I’ll add it (mvickerman@renewwisconsin.org).

From this list you’ll have a clear idea as to where the hot spots are for wind energy development. Antiwind web sites tend to crop up when a proposed project is going through the permiting process.  It’s worth noting that not every development center is “covered” by an antiwind web site. Examples of areas that have not generated much opposition are: (1) Gratiot County in Michigan; (2) southwest and south central Minnesota; (3) Paulding and Van Wert counties in Ohio (where 98% of the state’s wind capacity is located); and (4) Fond du Lac, Dodge and Columbia counties in Wisconsin, where more than 90% of the state’s wind generation capacity is located.
