    Good afternoon!

I’m pleased to announce that a new Michigan-based clean energy advocate will be joining NRDC in early December – Derrell Slaughter. Many of you likely know Derrell, but for those who don’t, allow me to introduce him:

Derrell is a Michigan native with a long history of engagement in the energy policy space and in organizing and campaigns. Before his most recent role as a policy advisor on Public Sector Consultants’ energy team, he served for seven years at the Michigan PSC – first as a student assistant and later as an aide to the Commissioners advising them on a range of regulatory matters, including the implementation of Public Acts 341 and 342. Outside of his energy policy work, Derrell has served as a community organizer on a variety of issues, including criminal justice reform. This work ultimately led to him serving on the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, a position to which he was just reelected. Adding to these diverse experiences, Derrell is the Vice President of the ACLU of Michigan’s Board of Directors, and has previously served as a legislative staffer for the Michigan House of Representatives.

He will be officially joining NRDC on December 7th. Please join me in welcoming Derrell to the Michigan clean energy and climate advocacy space!
