Forrest W. Anderson Research conducted a survey for manufacturing company Johns Manville in light of Energy Awareness Month. The survey found that 93 percent of people from Iowa and 90 percent of people from Wisconsin are interested in increasing their homes’ energy efficiency.  ...read more »

Lights Out on the Mackinac Bridge

The Associated Press reports that Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge is moving toward energy efficiency. The Mackinac Bridge Authority says it will power down computers at night and on weekends; decorative lights will turn off at 1 a.m.; and wattage will be reduced at the toll plaza. The measures will reduce energy costs by 11 percent or $13,000 a year.

Wal-Mart Greens State Capitols

Wal-Mart announced that it will help 19 states and Puerto Rico to green their capitols. This includes Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota. Wal-Mart will hire engineers to perform energy audits that will provide recommendations to save energy, lower electricity costs and reduce pollution.  ...read more »
