Carbon Disclosure Project – Iowa and Minnesota Sign On

The Carbon Disclosure Project - founded in 2000- works to disclose information about major corporations’ global warming pollution. Its goal is to “facilitate dialogue, from which a rational response to climate change will emerge.”

The Carbon Disclosure Project and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability have teamed up with U.S. cities in similar efforts. Approximately 30 cities will assess their CO2 pollution (for instance examining the operations of their fire departments, police services, municipal buildings, waste transport, etc.) and disclose the data to the Carbon Disclosure Project’s online reporting. Twenty-one cities signed on initially. Four of those include Dubuque and Fairfield, Iowa, and St. Paul and Edina, Minn. In addition, Anchorage, Denver, Las Vegas, New Orleans, New York City and Portland signed on. Check out the Green Tech blog post for more information.
