Big Stone II supporters took a huge blow Friday when two Minnesota Administrative Law Judges made a recommendation against the Big Stone II project. The judges specifically did not support the construction of transmission lines, which would bring power from South Dakota to Minnesota. They felt that the power companies did not prove the transmission lines were needed. Also, the Big Stone II utility partnership failed to prove that renewable energy would not meet the demand for electricity, according to the Star Tribune. The recommendations will go to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, but clean-energy advocates think this may be just the thing to end Big Stone II. See the attached file for more information from the state.
