As Iowans go to the caucuses Thursday evening and in following the candidates thereafter, climate change should be an issue in their decision-making process, according to officials of Iowa Global Warming.
It's a nonpartisan organization that does not endorse or favor one candidate or political party, though it has kept track of candidate positions on issues related to climate change.
Iowa's wetland, forests, croplands and prairies face future threats from global warming, according to the National Wildlife Federation. Warmer temperatures could bring more extreme droughts to Iowa as warmer air evaporates moisture form the soil more rapidly, resulting in lower crop yields in corn.
