A grassroots group devoted to raising the topic of global warming before the 2008 presidential candidates in Iowa has done well, coalition officials say.
IowaGlobalWarming was founded in March, project director Steve Falck explained, as a coalition of the Iowa Environmental Council, Iowa RENEW, League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and other groups. In a year in which global warming has become a major part of political discussion, more than 1,000 Iowans have joined IowaGlobalWarming, Falck said.
IowaGlobalWarming events have been held in Northwest Iowa in places such as Morningside College. Siouxlanders are among those who attend presidential campaign events, pose questions on global warming positions and then report back to IowaGlobalWarming.
