Known as "A Cool Congregation," it's part of a growing nationwide effort through the Interfaith Power and Light, a non-denominational, multi-faith organization that has chapters in Iowa and other states.

"They believe global warming is a faith-based, moral and ethical issue, not a political one, so they're uniting people of faith regardless of religion to seek solutions to global warming," said Marie Huggins, spokesperson for the local members.

A Cool Congregation and the Iowa Interfaith Power and Light were the official sponsors of a recent forum on global warming issues with the candidates for the Council Bluffs City Council.

That's just one event the members have hosted to raise awareness of this issue.
