A new poll of Iowa hunters and fishing enthusiasts show a majority are concerned about global warming and its possible effects on outdoor recreation, and agriculture.

The poll, released by the nonprofit National Wildlife Federation, also found that just 9 percent of respondents have committed to a candidate in the Iowa caucuses. American Viewpoint of Alexandria, Va. performed the Sept. 9-12 poll of Iowans randomly selected from lists of hunting and fishing license holders.

The results have a margin of error of 4.1 percent.

“Hunters and anglers are the conservative mainstreamt of America and they are concerned about global warming,” said Derek Brockbank, of the National Wildlife Federation. “These are not your tree-hugging, liberal hippies.”
