For much of the 20th century, Michigan symbolized America's industrial might. We were the epicenter of automaking and, during World War II, Detroit was hailed as the "Arsenal of Democracy."

Those titles are fading. But, why not set our sights on a goal befitting the 21st century? Why can't Michigan strive to be the "Arsenal of Green Energy"?

It starts by challenging ourselves. When President Kennedy challenged the country to put a man on the moon within the decade, many scientists scoffed. But we did it in eight years.
