Clarification on RE-AMP RoundUp from Oct. 15, 2007

In response to the North Dakota story in this week's RE-AMP RoundUp, the Media Center received the following clarification. Please note the message below from the Izaak Walton League, and also the op-ed above.

"The ND utilities, government and press are characterizing Minnesota's carbon cost requirement as a carbon tax, which is not true. It won't be applied to existing sources of imported generation. In the newscast, this was also the way it was described.

Instead, it's a cost tool that will be used when comparing new generation alternatives - to help regulators compare the relative carbon cost implications of generation options. Bill Grant sent in an op-ed to the Bismark Tribune responding to these false characterizations of the new Minnesota policy. I've attached it here for your purposes."
