Sept. 1, 2006: Can Iowa Mimic California in Reducing Global Warming?

While D.C. has been reluctant to impose controls of carbon dioxide emissions linked to global warming, California lawmakers have decided to put controls in place on the state's largest industrial sectors to reduce emissions by 26 percent by the year 2020. Iowa politicians could do the same.

Des Moines, IA-California lawmakers have reached a deal that imposes the most sweeping regulation of carbon dioxide emissions anywhere in the country. Could this lead the way for other states like Iowa to follow suit to reform our energy system? Comments from Rich Leopold at the Iowa Environmental Council.

"It was quite a decision that happened in California. I think the move that they made is a great example of what we could or should do right here in Iowa."
