FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Franklin Codel Appointed to
Iowa Power Fund
Due Diligence Committee

Franklin Codel hopes his new volunteer position will help make Iowa less dependent on foreign oil and will ultimately result in reduced global warming emissions in Iowa.

Codel is one of 7 citizens newly appointed to the Iowa Power Fund Due Diligence Committee by Governor Culver.

Codel is Executive Vice President, Finance and Corporate Real Estate for Wells Fargo and a member of the Board of Directors for the Iowa Environmental Council. To this new volunteer position, he brings his expertise in finance and his interest in the promotion of renewable energy development and utilization, and energy efficiency.

“I think we can accelerate the work that’s already being done by properly investing the Power Fund,” Codel said.

He hopes in five or ten years to be able to look back and see that the investments made a difference in reaching what he calls “big hairy audacious goals.”

“The rubber hits the road when you start writing checks to people,” Codel said.

The Iowa Power Fund is a four year, $100 million fund for clean energy. The Power Fund will be available to help with research, development, and commercialization of technologies to increase energy efficiency and renewable energy, decrease global warming emissions, and decrease Iowa’s reliance on foreign and fossil sources of energy.

The Iowa Power Fund Board and Due Diligence Committee will oversee and direct the spending of the Power Fund. The board and committee will ensure that the funds are used practically and to advance the goals of increasing Iowa’s use of clean energy and reducing use of foreign energy and fossil fuels.

By establishing the Iowa Power Fund, Iowa continues to demonstrate its commitment to clean and renewable sources of energy.
