Welcome!

If you are interested in finding out more about funding RE-AMP projects, or joining the RE-AMP Network as a foundation member, you will find information here to get you started.

How Funders May Get Involved

Each RE-AMP working group has developed a set of goals and objectives they are seeking to achieve in the next 2-3 years, providing, in effect, a list of funding opportunties. For Funders interested in a particular issue area, there are a number of ways to invest. You may choose to:

  • Fund an individual organization’s work in the area,
  • Fund one of the designated lead organizations that act as intermediaries to disperse funds in an issue or geographic area,
  • Fund one of RE-AMP’s special funds: 1) Rapid Response Fund for Fight Coal plants, or the 2) Region-wide Global Warming Task Force Fund.

Benefits of Funding RE-AMP Projects

As a RE-AMP member and funder, you benefit from having access to...

  • Menus of funding options of inter-related and coordinated projects in the region.
  • Holistic strategic view of how your funding is working in the context of other RE-AMP projects
  • Network of colleagues for discussing strategies,
  • Up-to-date briefings from advocates on trends, results, and emerging opportunities
  • Access to all information in the RE-AMP online Commons, including downloadable reports and data on RE-AMP progress around specific issues.

RE-AMP’s Main Mission

RE-AMP’s mission is to develop an effective model of foundation/grantee collaboration while achieving rapid change in the upper Midwest’s energy system (making the region a clean energy leader) and catalyzing aggressive national action on global warming.

RE-AMP’s Ultimate Goals

  • Transform the regional energy system (making it far less polluting while creating clean/green economic opportunities for individuals and communities);
  • Tip the balance in the national debate toward much more aggressive federal action on global warming; and
  • Develop a model of collaboration that other groups of funders and NGO’s working on complex issues of sustainability may find useful

RE-AMP’s Niche

In RE-AMP, we concluded that four facets of the energy picture are interdependent and require simultaneous attention:

  1. Increasing the supply of renewable energy sources, such as wind.
  2. Tapping “new” energy that is available through increased efficiency.
  3. Cleaning up coal plant emissions from existing and proposed plants.
  4. Implementing leading policies for global warming solutions.

To accomplish these interdependent results, RE-AMP participants share a vision and agree on ultimate goals and viable strategies for achieving them. We collaborate on better communication and coordination to support our projects, and are measuring our combined progress. We hope this is a model adaptable to funders and NGO’s in other regions, engaged with other issues.
